Appreciating Time

Table of Contents

Business-metricsAt ClickTime, it's safe to say that we're obsessed with time (and clicking, but that's a different blog post for a different day). We've spent years contemplating ways to help people track, compartmentalize and report time. We're now exploring new ways to unlock the value in your captured time.

Understanding time provides direct insight into talent and performance. When evaluating talent, many managers consider both the what (the person's work product), as well as the how (the manner with which the person accomplished the work) to construct a holistic view of performance. While the how can be gleaned through observation and qualitative feedback from others, the what can be a little trickier to nail down.

Enter the value of time. Time can tell us what was worked on and for what duration. In most businesses, time directly translates into revenue. These powerful metrics help us acknowledge the value of talent by quantifying the "what" in performance.

Quantitative metrics offer a counterweight to typical performance evaluation biases, including differing expectations across managers, inaccuracies in measuring team members against each other instead of goals, and popularity affecting perceptions of value. Using quantitative metrics to supplement qualitative ones gives us a better way to fully appreciate, reward and retain top talent.

What are some of the quantitative metrics you employ or would like to when evaluating talent? We would love to hear from you!
