Time-Saving Tips for Accurate Time Entry
Table of Contents
There are easy ways to enter time and there are easy ways to ensure compliance. ClickTime’s data is only as good as what is entered into the system, so it’s important that people enter their time accurately and in a timely manner. If I personally don’t enter time daily then it takes probably 10x the time to dig through calendar events and emails to fill out past timesheets, and even then it wouldn’t be 100% accurate. To that end, we have some tools for you!
ClickTime makes time entry as easy as humanly possible.
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Single Sign On (SSO) is a way to enter login information one time to gain access to all of your linked accounts (including ClickTime!). ClickTime supports a variety of SSO options for your company, including Google Apps, OneLogin, Active Directory, SAML, and more. The end result it that people don’t have to type in their passwords every time. Just click an SSO option to sign in once.
Auto-fill
ClickTime learns your working patterns on a revolving 21-day cycle and can pre-populate your timesheet for you based on these patterns.
Mobile App
Download our mobile app to easily capture time on-the-go. Bonus: take a picture of your receipts with our app for easy expense reporting and reimbursement.
Calendar Integration
You don’t even need to log into ClickTime anymore. Just pop down the menu from your browser and enter time or start the timer as you begin an activity.
Stopwatch Tool
Users can start a stopwatch without even selecting the client/project/task on which they are working. If you pause an entry then you can begin working on another. If you go back to that original activity then you can restart that timer without creating an additional time entry line item.
ClickTime also has tools to make sure people are both entering time and submitting time for approval in a timely manner.
Incomplete Timesheet Report
ClickTime has a dynamic report that shows you who has not satisfied their time entry requirements. You can send a bulk email to those who are not compliant, reminding them to enter time, directly from the report! Note: each user can be assigned a different threshold that must be met to avoid being outed on this report. It can be any number of hours per day or per week. ClickTime can even require that this threshold be met to submit your timesheet. Running this report daily is the best practice if you are committed to accuracy and timeliness of entering time.
Automated Notifications
Admins can set up one or more reminders for users to either submit their timesheets or enter time (if their timesheets are considered incomplete). You can set the number of days before and/or after the timesheet period ends where this email notification is sent. These notifications can be customized. Note: We also have notifications for managers if they have submitted timesheets to review and approve.
